Christmas Problem Solving in P3/4
11th Dec 2021
The P3/4 children had a lovely Christmas themed day at school today
First they completed some problem solving activities and then made a reindeer.
- Moving the elves and Santa from one side of the workshop to the other with only being able to move one square to the left or right if the square is free, or by jumping over a Santa/elf, if the square after it was free. The children really enjoyed this one and it didn't take them too long to work it out. 2. Rudolph was looking in through the window. The children had to count the number of squares in the window. This proved very tricky as all the squares were different sizes. 3. The children had a field of 9 reindeer. Their challenge was to build 2 square fences that would have each of the 9 reindeer in its own field. This stumped the children! They loved it and were trying so so many possibilities. The teacher had to show them the correct way. Well done to all P3/4 children. Great work.
As a Friday treat the children made Rudolph the reindeer and used a lolly each for his nose!!
